Eye Procedures Employing LASIK

August 15th, 2010

Vision can be corrected by reshaping the cornea thus altering the way the eye focuses, using laser eye surgery. Eyesight may be improved by Laser eye correction so that it will not be necessary to make use of corrective lenses.

LASIK eye surgery is a procedure of vision correction surgery. The phrase LASIK stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. Nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism can all be addressed by this outpatient surgical treatment which utilizes an excimer laser. During this process tissue is taken away from the transparent membrane which overlays the iris, known as the cornea. The curve of the cornea is adjusted to enhance how the eye focuses light rays at the rear of the eye.

The process of laser eye surgery is quite uncomplicated. So that the surgeon can program the laser with the optimum prescription, the eye is first of all measured and the cornea is mapped as part of a pre-surgery evaluation. There is no discomfort experienced at the time of the process as the eye is anesthetized with eyedrops.

The outside of the eye is first cut to provide a microscopically thin flap. Then, to adjust the curve of the cornea, the laser removes pre-programmed quantities of cornel tissue underneath the flap with bursts of light. The flap is then sealed back over the eye to make a natural bandage. No more than five minutes are required for this part of the procedure.

The day following LASIK eye surgery you may likely be seeing sufficiently well for light activities and may even be ready to return to your job, though it generally takes three to six months for the eyesight to heal fully and eyesight to stabilize. As your eye mends, you may need to avoid rigorous tasks. For most people the vision is sharp and improved following surgery; for others eyesight may carry on sharpening as the recovery proceeds.

Laser eye modification might have a number of temporary, moderate side effects but these normally go away as the cornea gets better. Poor evening vision, glare or halos surrounding lighting, light sensitivity, reduced sharpness of vision, small pink or red patches around the white of the eye, hazy or blurred eyesight, scratchiness, dry eye, some pain or discomfort are a few of the unwanted effects which can be suffered.

Interesting Facts About Fat

August 8th, 2010

Here some fascinating facts about fat:

Fats are high in calories. Per gram, fat contains 9 calories (this is true of any fat, regardless of its type). Compare this to carbohydrates and protein, which contain about 4 calories per gram. That rumor is true: high fat consumption increases the total calories in our diet. For this reason alone, it is prudent to limit fat intake if you are attempting to lose weight.

Some fats actually lower chloresterol. The bad fats are bad largely because they raise LDL chloresterol levels (also known as bad chloresterol). Good fats, the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, increase the HDL (good) cholesterol levels, which helps lower LDL chloresterol.

Fat energizes our body. Polyunsaturated fats (found in salmon and oily fish, corn oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil) have a detoxifying effect on our cells, carrying away toxic fats deposited there that clog up cell processes.

Fat lubricates the body. Good fats are like oil in a car engine, providing needed lubrication to our joints, digestive system (flax seed is excellent for constipation) and skin. Some of our dermatological problems are caused by deficiencies of good fats in our diet.

Tribunal Judge Comments on the Complexity of the Legal System

May 27th, 2010

It makes news when a Tribunal judge says that as there are too many legislations that confuse both the judges and the public, it is better to stay away from the judiciary. Lord Justice Mummery recently made a statement to this effect while dismissing a time waiver application. He expressed his sympathy towards all litigants and said that he knew what they were going through.

David Piper, owner of Brentegani’s Bistro Ltd was sued by ex-employee Jacqueline Marley after her employment was terminated. She appealed to the Employment Tribunal claiming unfair dismissal on the basis of her disabilities. The Employment Tribunal held the company guilty and ordered it to pay her £14,777 in compensation.

The company sought to appeal against the tribunal’s decision to the EAT but the time limit of six weeks had ended. Mr Piper then took the matter to London’s Civil Appeal Court where he argued that he had gone to file the appeal in person but the office was closed and there was no other means of depositing the appeal.

He pleaded for a waiver on time limit to appeal against the case. But the claim was dismissed by Lord Justice Mummery of the Civil Appeal Court. He said that the petitioner had enough time to appeal and added that the case was weak.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the professional body for those involved in the management and development of people. My Hair Loss Account

May 23rd, 2010

My hair loss treatment journey started the day I started to notice my thinning hair and my bald spot becoming bigger. I would spend hours and hours looking for ways to comb my hair a certain way to conceal my hair loss. I noticed myself wearing more hats on the weekends as I went out with my wife, friends or family. Walking in to work every morning was a difficult experience without my hat on. You change the way you think when you are experiencing hair loss. It is so true that you never know what you have until you lose it. That can be accurate about your hair loss.

Having suffered from hair loss, I started to treasure every strand of hair that I had left. It was as if with each strand of hair I lost, so was a small percent of my confidence gone as well. A acquaintance of mine had the same problem as me. Yet recently he seemed so much more relaxed and I observed that it was as if his hair was growing back. I never wanted to bring it up but after a while I decided to ask. It was then that he recommended to me Advanced Hair Studio. With just a few treatments my friend John had not only regrown his hair, but his self-assurance as well. After seeing what Josh has attained from Advanced Hair, I made up my mind to pay them a visit.

I was a little sceptical at first. But outcomes were apparent within a few weeks. Not only on my scalp, but in my behaviour. I began to lose the caps on the weekends and I quickly started to feel better about myself. My wife has also pointed out a change in my day to day behaviour as well. It is amazing how just a few visits to the Advanced Hair Studio had begun to change my life as a whole. I always felt as if the first thing people noticed about me was my bald spot. Now, I am not concerned to look people in the eyes again as I have my full set of hair back.

Advance Hair Studio has not only given me back my hair little by little, but a big piece of my confidence as well. If you are going through hair loss I highly recommend them as it has done so much for me in just a few months of treatments. Don’t let your self-confidence continue to be lost with your hair.
