Over and over the huge grizzly bear stabs her powerful paw into the mountain river, fishing for her breakfast in the chilly, shallow water. A cool, crisp mountain breeze drifts through the valley; moist morning dew blankets the ground. The soothing sound of running water plays continuously as the sun scales the mountain peaks and illuminates the dawn sky.
There can be few places on earth with the raw, natural beauty displayed throughout the Rocky Mountains. Vast forests race up the huge grey, granite faces until the grade becomes too steep to support the great myriad of roots. Songs of birds emanate through the deep valley as they sing and dance amongst the tall trees. The still waters of the broad lake mirror the gathering, grey clouds forming in the sky. Rainfall looks likely.
Upstream from the lake, the grizzly perseveres in her attempts to catch salmon. Her young cub watches inquisitively; her only chance of survival is to learn the predatory skills of her mother.
A clap of thunder echoes around the valley; angry clouds combine to mask the sun. The light darkens and shadows disappear. Birds scatter from their perches in the lofty trees and circle overhead, assessing what the weather will do next.
The bright morning sunshine gives way to afternoon showers. Rain splashes upon the flowing stream, earning sanctuary for the swimming fish as the grizzly and her cub head for the shelter of the thick forest green.
Observing grizzly bears is one of the most exciting adventure holidays to be had. Vancouver Island Destinations offer spectacular springtime grizzly bear viewing holidays at Glendale Cove, Knight Inlet in British Columbia. Timed to coincide with the end of the grizzly’s hibernation period, watch the bears emerge from their winter slumber and tread wearily through the melting snow to feed amongst the river lowlands.
You can observe the bears begin to fatten themselves up, from the complete safety of a river boat. Binoculars are a must for those great close-ups, and an opportunity to witness the bear in predatory mode as they retune their fishing skills. Obviously binoculars help to keep a safe distance, but also allow you to watch the bears act completely naturally, undisturbed by human presence.
Both boat and land viewing tours are available up to the beginning of October. For more information visit the Vancouver Island Destinations web site.

Experts agree that professional bowling has become an exceptionally celebrated pass time. Of course it follows that the popularizationof bowling started new sponsorships in premium. Dozens of bowlers are so well known they are now household names, take for example Bowling pro champions everyone trumpets like Chris Barnes, among the all-time bowling money leaders. Some recognized bowlers for better or worse include Richard Nixon (he installed a lane in the basement of the White House).
Witnessing the steep growth in the viability of bowling and leaps in pro bowling balls, the competition is increasingly about equipment. Also, there’s there’s more to pro bowling shoes than cardboard souls. Today’s bowling ball construction and lane oil has bowling balls hooking quite naturally, lowering the minimum skill needed by a bowler to build terrific force and curves. Straighter players with fewer rotation might build enough energy through brand name equipment except for bowling bags to send 10 pins flying with amazing consistency, making the game easier to play. Surprisingly, going for high rotation on the bowling ball actually hurts your roll. EvenAfter getting started with rective bowling balls, comfy bowling shoes and a custom bowling ball bag, you’ll get good at bowling consistently. Experiment until you discover the approach which gets you results. Take a look at these pieces of advice from yours truly.
Most obviously, don’t even attempt a spin till you find your groove. During the time you’re perfecting the delivery, try out a three-step, four-step and a five-step method. Whether you take 3 steps or 4 should depend on a bowler’s height and the point you start your approach. Also remember, do not drop the bowling ball until after it has swung by your slide leg. If you do this, the ball will be out in the lane allowing for better control. Last but not least, relax and socialize during your bowling league play. Don’t be afraid to find the local bowling alley for tips and advice.

Partly due to the global recession snowboarding accommodation occupancies went down this season.
This is despite of strong pre season sales and first class skiing conditions.
This reduction in vacationers comes after five years of growth in the snowboarding industry, and the number of snowboarders went down from 1.15 million in 2008 to less than a million last winter.
Partly due to snowboarders giving the season a miss, whilst additional vacationers who would normally take two or more skiing trips, only took the one.
The independent travel sector fell by 15% and several low priced airlines reducing the no. of routes to some cities.
Tour operators also saw the sales reducing by about the same amount.
All the same, the top tour operators share of the market stayed at just over 70% and France continued to remain the most popular ski destination with about 37% of ski holidays.
Due to this several tour operators slashed the amount of catered chalets they operate this year.
The catered chalet markets especially will see a reduction in holiday makers due to the fact that a luxury catered chalet costs more with regards to hosts and chefs and rent if it is not occupied.
It seems unlikely that we will see the ski deals France that were up for grabs last season.
Whilst costs are probably going to to augment, costs are unlikely to increase a lot.
The 2009/10 winter without doubt presents grave issues for the ski industry which is touched by by the outcomes of the credit crunch, weakness of the pound against the euro, high costs of fuel on top of high fixed running costs for ski businesses.
Next winter vacationers will become progressively price aware, this will lead to a reversion of the last years that witnessed a growth in independent travel.
