Halloween Party Ideas
To be uniform with the black and orange motif of Halloween, serve drinks on Halloween that utilize these colors. Mix a punch mixture with orange soda pop or orange juice to give it that additional Halloween radiance. For an additional touch, buy ice cube trays in the shape of Halloween ghosts to place in the punch at your party. You cannot celebrate Halloween without candy! Lay out bowls of orange and black jellybeans, M&Ms, candy corn, candy pumpkins, and other fun treats to get your guests in the Halloween spirit!
Head to the local Halloween parade in your neighborhood and let your guests enjoy the area festivities before heading back to your house for a wild Halloween party! Place clues around your home and then split your guests into two teams to make the scavenger hunt a competition. Although this might seem a little juvenile, making the scavenger hunt a competition will get your friends excited about the hunt and will have them running around your house before you know it! Reward the winning team with Halloween-themed treats with orange and black frosting, candy corn or candy ghosts.

Even seasoned poker players make mistakes. It is easy to get so caught up in the game and to forget some important guidelines for solid play.
Here a few subtle, easily overlooked, pointers that you should always keep in mind when online poker play:
* Don’t play too many hands. Winning poker players actually don’t play much. Stick to premium cards and widen that range just a bit based on position.
* Relying on outs that are no good. Sometimes one of your “outs” will improve an opponent’s hand. For instance, you’ve got an open-ended straight draw, which is presumably 8 outs. But if there are two or three cards to a suit on board, then your outs of that suit are “dirty” - they could be the cards that complete a better hand for your opponent. Make sure all your outs are clean before you make a decision to call a bet.
* Your percentage of hitting a card are nearly twice as good at the turn than as on the river, since there are two cards to come post-flop. With just one card left to come after the turn, your winning percentage potential goes down dramatically.
* Calling a turn raise when you don’t have a made hand is usually a waste of chips. Most likely your opponent already has a made hand and you are chasing. Consider the pot odds, but be careful here.

Serious poker players who are intent on making money at the game know that it is a grind. They typically sit at a table (or computer if you play poker online) for hours. It requires intense focus and discipline to stay on target for your goals.
Recreational players are there to have and possibly win a little money, and they don’t mind blowing their cash since they view the experience as entertainment. For the grinder who is there solely to make money, the game can become tedious like any job, especially when a grinder goes card dead and has to keep folding and folding and folding.
Poker pundits always advise players to add an element of unpredictable play to their poker hand. When you find yourself out of the action for too long, then it’s time to just go a little bit crazy. Decide to play a hand, any hand you get, as though it is a monster. Raise the blind and see what happens.
Most of the other players will notice that you have suddenly bet after playing so tight and will assume you’ve finally gotten a monster. You may just win the pot outright.
If you have to go to showdown and lose, then you have created an unpredictable image for yourself that will make your opponents want to call your bets when you do actually get a monster.
This is not a move to waste a lot of chips on, but it is worth investing a few bets to wake yourself up from the doldrums and to project a crazy image to the table.

There are very few certainties in poker. I can be sure that I will lose given enough time. I can also be relatively sure that I will be able to win if I am given enough time. I cannot be sure how the events of the day will go. There is absolutely no way of knowing how much money will be in my wallet at the end of the day. Really the only thing that I can say about my poker day is that it ends. After my poker online day is over and I settle in for the night, I know that tomorrow will be a new day. If I have used proper bankroll management, tomorrow will also bring a new chunk of bankroll and new opportunities.
I need to think about the tomorrows of poker sometimes when the beats get bad I cannot see the way out. I need to think about the tomorrows when the todays are just profoundly unpleasant. I especially need to think that tomorrow is a new day when I feel like I am leaking money to the fishes like chum to a swarm of sharks. Thinking about tomorrow gives me perspective. If you ever find yourself losing your grip, try this trick. Think about how tomorrow none of this will matter. Think of how your bankroll will be better, your luck more favorable, and your table mates less skilled. Tomorrow will be a better day.

As in all of these turbo and super turbo online poker SNGs, bubble play was tough in this one. I play very aggressive against inexperienced players on the bubble because they fold too much. This game was no exception and I tried to steal a lot, getting called in one spot when I had 5-2 and the other guy had AK. 5-2 was obviously way too loose of a shove, but wouldn’t you know it, I won and doubled up.
As was the case the whole poker game, they continued to fold too much. I was cooled off my raising a bit sensing that the two of them would begin to call me lighter after seeing my 5-2. This would work out great when I actually caught a big hand, but until then, I kept it tight and aggressive. The others were just trading blinds with each other, without confrontation. After what seemed like an eternity, the big stack finally made an exhausted call of an all-in with 8-9 off. The other guy had QJ and doubled up.
Then, when I thought for sure the former big stack would be out in a hand or two, he was able to steal a lot of blinds where the new big stack was unwilling to gamble with him and attempt to knock him out.
Meanwhile I was getting garbage, but staying afloat. Finally they got all in. The tiny stack had A-9 and the big stack had A-5. A-5 won I made it past the bubble. Look out for these things when you play online poker.

A few days ago, I had a particularly bad session at an online poker cash game. I’d taken a pretty severe beating, losing a few big poker online hands to runner-runner suckouts, and I was feeling pretty lousy about it. I sank a good chunk of my bankroll in that poker game, and I was pretty anxious to try to win it back. After stewing for a few hours, I’d whipped myself up into a frenzy and was signing back in to try to recoup my losses. I quickly gave away the rest of my money with questionable bets and even worse reads. The lesson that you can take from my poor judgment is that if you’ve had a bad day at the table, returning to said table in an effort to regain your chips is likely to be counterproductive. If you have to come from behind, you’re in a bad spot already, and you don’t need to be making it any worse by trying to catch up. Unless poker is your full time profession, then you can afford to take a day or two off to cool your head and regroup. After a bad session, take a step back and figure out what went wrong before charging back into the fray.

Little drives me more batty than watching an up and coming shooting star online poker player on TV acting like he owns the world. Something about sudden fame and fortune in the poker world seems to bring people into acting like they are movie stars, as if they should not be challenged in a pot, or ever raised. They showboat like they’re auditioning for the next movie in the Fast and the Furious franchise. This is embarrassing, both for me and for you. Sometimes you see this kind of action even among poker players not in the midst of poker primetime. Outside just the televised poker circuit, sometimes there are online or tournament players who act like because they are ranked in the top online money makers or have won a couple of tournaments, you should respect them like they own the house. You do not own the house. Even if you did, you are a player like any other and should remember humility and poise at all time. There’s no need to act like you’re better than anybody else at the poker online table. We’re all here to enjoy and play the game. A little success is nice, but remember where you came fromgetting dealt two cards just like anybody else.

Every tourist that sends a day or two at Las Vegas inevitably comes away from the city of sin with a hole in their wallet and a hole in their new deck of cards. Any truly inquisitive tourist inevitably asks: why is there a hole in my cards? While this may seem like a silly question to ask the poker community, that hole in the cards actually speaks volumes. Let’s first start with the real reason why the casinos punch holes in their used decks. They punch holes in the cards so that the decks cannot be used in actual play again. This is supposed to prevent the old cold card online poker cheating technique.
The truth is that casinos now have the technology to prevent old decks being used in actual play. They don’t need to punch a physical hole in the deck to keep you from slipping it onto the table. The hole in your cards is just a gimmick for the tourists. They are perfectly okay to use in any online poker game that you play in a casual setting. Just tell your friends that the hole in their cards will help prevent a hole in their wallets. They will be sure to enjoy the novelty of something new and different at the poker table.

Yawn. You’re doing it again. Another Yawn, and you’re eyes are blurred, and really you just want to go to sleep, but you’re on such a good poker online run. Then, in your hazy mind, you make that bad call you wouldn’t have made and you lose your stack. It happens to us all, but it’s something to watch out for in the future. Now repeat after me. Don’t. Play. When. You. Are. TIRED. Did you get all that? Good. See, what happens when you’re tired is you stop thinking as clearly, you start making bad online poker calls, you start getting impatient. If you didn’t know, people who have been awake for more than 14 or so hours at the casino online experience a delusional type state where their cognition is down, and thus their reasoning suffers. So next time you sit down for a session, ask yourself, how many hours have you been playing. Ask yourself what your peak is, and when it’s over, no matter how your running, take your winnings and run. I’ve seen it happen to too many good players to let you guys make the same mistake. Someone sits down for a six hour session, grinds his way up to 3 max buy-ins, and then in an hour loses it all during his seventh hour. That’s not to say six hours is optimal, as everybody has his or her own limits and boundaries of how long they can keep their concentration. But if your tired, it’s in the best interest of your bank roll to leave the felt, and put the cards or keyboard down for a while and get a nice little nap in. Trust me, you’ll be playing much more optimally if you do.
