February 12th, 2010
Naveen Jain is ahead of his game in terms of the technologies - in collecting, converting and transferring information from the Web to individual consumers and companies - that he engaged himself in. His brainchild, Intellius Inc, is an online information commerce company that functions as a provider of data and assistance to consumers, empowering them to make the best decisions about their business, assets and loved ones.
The Intelius co-founder was born in Uttar Pradesh, India on September 6th 1959. At the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee, he earned his undergraduate degree in engineering. At St. Xavier School of Management, he obtained his Master’s degree. After completing his Master’s, he left for the US through a business exchange program. His main intention was to study the high technology market of the country.
First employed at Burroughs Corporation (now called Unisys) in New Jersey, Naveen Jain later moved to Washington in 1989 to work for Microsoft Corporation as a senior executive. In the seven years that he had been in the company, he was among those who launched the online service MSN (Microsoft Network).
In the mid-90s he set out to form InfoSpace Inc, a privately owned metasearch business, and he functioned as its chief executive officer. The company intends to offer telephone directories and all other vital information to online properties like MSN, Lycos and AOL (America Online). The CEO resigned from the company but he continued to be one of its board directors until June of 2005.
In January of 2003, Naveen Jain established Intelius Incorporated, a business that proffered critical information to its consumers. Unlike InfoSpace, the company supplies web-based products and services such as background checks and the identity theft protection IDWatch, which has the power to secure clients from any form of fraudulence. The firm has recently reached more than 10 million unique consumers.
